CalArts has many financial aid options. Almost everyone, regardless of income, can qualify for some form of financial aid. Please note all Federal Aid (loans and grants) requires a completed FAFSA application.
Institutional scholarships are designed to make a CalArts education more affordable by providing funds that do not need to be repaid. For BFA Students For Graduate Students
CalArts participates in the following Federal Grant Programs:
Federal Pell Grant** The Federal Pell Grant is available to undergraduate students with exceptional financial need. To apply, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine eligibility. For 2022-23 students may receive up to $6,495 per year.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)** The FSEOG is available to undergraduate students with exceptional financial need. Eligibility is based on the information provided on the FAFSA. Eligible students receive $2,000 per year.
**These federal grant awards are subject to change/elimination pending government regulations and federal allocations.
CalArts participates in the Federal Direct Loan program. Students are eligible to borrow federal loans if they complete a FAFSA and meet certain requirements, such as being enrolled at least half time and not defaulting on a federal loan.
