April 18, 2011, Valencia, CA—The CalArts Community Arts Partnership (CAP) is now accepting applications for the 2011 CAP Summer Arts Program (CAPSA) which will take place from July 11-28 at Central Los Angeles High School #9. CAPSA is a free three-week intensive arts program for high school students entering grades 10, 11, 12, or graduating in June 2011. The program, now in its 7th year, will offer workshops in 8 disciplines: Animation, Creative Writing, Dance, Digital Filmmaking, Music, Photography, Theater, and the Visual Arts. Each of these workshops will be led by outstanding artists on faculty at the California Institute of the Arts, and CalArts student instructors who will guide the students through exciting and creative experimentation in the arts. Students will be able to explore their art forms, building their skills and deepening their understanding and expression. The students will also visit some of the leading arts institutions throughout Los Angeles, experience the work of visiting artists, and learn about college applications and financial aid programs. The CAP Summer Arts Program will be taking place for the first time at Central Los Angeles High School #9 for the Visual and Performing Arts in downtown at 450 North Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA, 90012.
