Billing and Financial Aid

Tuition at CalArts is established annually through close review of the costs involved in providing a CalArts education. The tuition paid by students, in addition to donated funds, endowment earnings, and other sources of revenue, covers the cost of instruction, facilities, technology, and other materials used in the degree programs. Students should be prepared for annual tuition increases between 3% and 5%.

For more details about tuition, fees, and other costs of attendance, please visit our Tuition and Fees website.

Tuition statements are available for review as of July 1 through the CalArts Self-Service page (login required). The payment deadline is Thursday, August 13.

Students who have not completed the financial aid process, settled their account and completed the registration forms by the August 13 deadline will have their accounts put on hold, which prevents any additional class registration changes. A $200 late fee will also be assessed to the student account and included in the total amount due.

The final deadline for payment in order to enroll for fall is Friday, August 28. Students who do not settle their account by this date will be removed from all fall classes.

There are a variety of options available to make tuition payments. For more information regarding how to access your tuition statement, payment options, or deadlines, please visit the Payment and Student Accounts webpage, or reach out to the Accounting Office directly using the contact information listed below.

Office of Financial Aid

The CalArts Financial Aid Office is dedicated to providing guidance on the full range of financial aid options available to help meet the cost of a CalArts degree. These options include state and federal grants, federal subsidized and unsubsidized loans, private educational loans, and private scholarships, as well as any institutional scholarship aid included in the offer of admission.

All students can view their financial aid packages by logging into the Hub and clicking into WebAdvisor for Students. Domestic students who have submitted their FAFSA will also find any state and federal aid for which they qualify. Although institutional aid does not typically increase over the course of a student’s degree program, federal need-based aid is reevaluated each year upon submission of the FAFSA.

More information regarding financial aid at CalArts is available on the Financial Aid webpage.
