Quick Start Guide: Visiting Artist

This type of course usually involves presentations from a guest artist on their work, followed by discussions, Q&A, or individual meetings.

Considerations for Course Design

  • Given the nature of this course, a course shell will likely not be automatically created for you on the Learn LMS before the term begins. You can request a shell if you want one, however—fill out the Learn LMS Request form on the Hub to initiate the request.
  • As faculty, if you are facilitating or hosting guest artist presentations, you are the only person who needs a Zoom license—guest artists do not need a license.

Considerations for Facilitation

  • Based on feedback from students, many would prefer to have more 1:1 time with guest artists to show and get feedback on work, as opposed to solely listening to presentations. Consider shortening guest presentations to allow for more unstructured time. If possible, we recommend setting up a way for students to book appointments with a guest independently—here is how to do it with Google Calendar and Zoom.
