Ánima Estudios and Chatrone announce Latin American joint venture with California Institute of the Arts
Valencia, CA March 14, 2016— Ánima Estudios, Latin America’s largest and most prestigious animation studio, together with Chatrone, a preeminent Latin American animation/management production company, announce an exciting new partnership with California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), the top-ranked school for animation worldwide. The partnership demonstrates a commitment by Ánima Estudios to spearhead and accelerate the growth of the animation industry in Latin America.

CalArts, with a ‘who’s who’ of illustrious animation alumni, has embarked on a continuing education pilot program training professional artists and animators in Latin America. Spearheaded by the Office of Global Initiatives at CalArts, this pilot program has, to date, brought CalArts’ expertise and distinct approach in teaching art history, storytelling, storyboard and performance animation to Ánima Estudios production staff. As the program develops, it hopes to expand to other organizations in Mexico and across Latin America. Ánima Estudios and Chatrone will provide program support by facilitating new partnership introductions and logistical support.

“It is an honor and a privilege to start this relationship with CalArts,” said Jose C. Garcia de Letona, COO Ánima Estudios. “We are positive it will have a long term impact in the quality of our productions, the animation industry in LATAM and in the professional lives of our staff.”

According to CalArts Provost Jeannene Przyblyski, “We see this partnership as a first step in a broader set of professional development and continuing education initiatives.  We are delighted to share our knowledge and experience in teaching the art of animation and storytelling with colleagues in Latin America. With scholarship and internship opportunities available for our students, this relationship broadens our reach beyond fine arts into the entertainment industry in Latin America, which is a strategic area of focus for the Institute.”

“When we were looking to expand the opportunities for artists in Latin America, the marriage of CalArts’ renowned faculty with Ánima Estudios’ exceptional talent was a natural first step in building a world-class program for the region, ” Said Aaron Berger, head of Chatrone.

Fernando de Fuentes, CEO Ánima Estudios, “Having CalArts trust Ánima Estudios as a partner in this endeavor as well as benefiting from its world class expertise and prestige represents a huge step forward for our company.”
