An evening of World Percussion with the CalArts World Percussion Ensemble.
The CalArts World Percussion Ensemble is an ongoing experimental forum that brings together the percussion, drumming and world music traditions of CalArts. Their work bridges cultures and musical ideas, creating an entirely new sound for percussion consisting of both highly fixed compositions and extended improvisations.
The CalArts World Percussion Ensemble was conceived of by founding faculty John Bergamo, and remains an integral platform for percussionists and world music students to explore the possibilities within the world of drumming. The ensemble is currently led by faculty Randy Gloss, Houman Pourmehdi and Andrew Grueschow.
