Near-Real-Time features three of Sam Wells’ collaborative, free improvisation projects that arose during the the COVID-19 pandemic. When the pandemic struck, Wells, along with many  other musicians, began to embrace telematic and networked performance practices to address the sudden absence of in-person musical interactions. The ability to connect, collaborate, and perform with other musicians in near real-time throughout the pandemic has been a sustaining artistic element of Wells’ pandemic reality. These performances represent a range of approaches to remote musical interaction, electronic audio processing, free improvisation, and embracing the fundamental latencies of networked music-making. Sam will be joined by Christopher Biggs, Scott Miller, Sarah Belle Reid, and Adam Vidiksis.
