Paul Brach Visiting Artist Lecture Series

Mixing the languages of reality TV, advertising, documentaries, phone footage and high-end commercial aesthetics, Meriem Bennani explores the potential of storytelling through magical realism and humor. Her work spans video, animation, sculpture, drawing, and installation. Bennani earned a BFA from The Cooper Union in New York and an MFA from the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. 

Meriem Bennani was born in 1988, in Rabat, Morocco. She lives and works in New York. She exhibited at the Whitney Museum of Art 2019 Biennial, The Kitchen in New York, Art Dubai in Dubai, MoMA PS1 in Queens, NY, Signal Gallery in Brooklyn, NY, Stream Gallery in Brooklyn, NY, Samsøñ Gallery in Boston, MA, Arsenal Contemporary in New York, Postmasters Gallery in New York, Public Art Fund in New York, Arsenal Contemporary in New York, the 2016 Shanghai, Frank F.
