My experience with the blues isn’t a journey of love and passion but an ongoing discussion of race and social-political issues. As an Asian girl coming from another country, doing the blues can be controversial in some cases, which I would never have foreseen. People often misunderstood my intention of doing the blues as a political act, not to mention racist accusations revolved around my skin color and nationality. I was scared to death performing the blues in public. Coming a long way from understanding my own obsession, between the unspoken oppression in my country and the outspoken truth and tears in the music, I’ve got my answers and the blues. Enjoy classic tunes written by the most brilliant hill country bluesmen: R. L. Burnside, Mississippi Fred Mcdowell, and Junior Kimbrough.

Song list: Hard Time Killing Floor – R. L. Burnside; You Gotta Move – Fred Mcdowell; Lonesome in My Home – Junior Kimbrough; Fireman Ring the Bell – R. L. Burnside; Goin Down South – R. L. Burnside; John the Revelator – Traditional; Sweet Home Chicago – Robert Johnson; Where Did You Sleep Last Night – Lead Belly; Jumpin Judy – Alan Lomax
