CalArts Center for New Performance is excited to partner with
Hauser & Wirth for a special one-night-only presentation of
HA-M-LET from multi-disciplinary artist Peter Mark in downtown LA's Arts District.
About HA-M-LET
HA-M-LET is a multi-lingual, multimedia performance housed within a projection cube. Sourcing material from Shakespeare’s play, pop internet culture, home videos, and 3D animation, the projected image becomes landscape, body, narrative, and biography — shifting at a rate which pays homage to Hamlet’s own velocity of thought. The artist has cast and filmed his Brazilian parents in the roles of King, Queen, and Ghost, rendering the conflict as both textual and real — simultaneously liberated and confined by the layers of media.
HA-M-LET is performed in Portugese and English.
Peter Mark is a Brazilian American performer based in Los Angeles who develops multimedia, multilingual, site-responsive performances. His current body of work uses 3D renderings, gif-collages and object landscapes to respond to seminal theatrical texts in the Western canon, sculpting live performances within layers of projected media. He holds an MFA in Acting from CalArts School of Theater, and his media works have been featured on Channel 4, MuseumTV France, and Vimeo Staff Pics.
