How flexible is the itinerary?
All of our itineraries include blocks of free time for you to explore on your own or catch a site that is not included in the schedule. If there is something that you must break away from the tour for, all addresses and the sequence where the group will be are published on the itinerary so you can easily find the next activity. In the event that you must break away, you are responsible for your own expenses and transportation to and from your personal activity.
What does the trip cost include?
Costs include accommodations, excursions, meals and tickets as indicated in your travel brochure. Inclusions for each trip will vary for each custom itinerary. Please refer to the Program Rates page in your travel brochure for complete details.
What does the trip cost not include?
Airfare; passport fees; baggage fees; airport transfers; items of a personal nature, such as valet/laundry, phone/fax communications; items not on the regular menus; expenses of hotels, meals, guides, buses, cars, railroad, boats, etc., for sightseeing not included in the itinerary; trip insurance; any other items not specifically included in your trip brochure.
Is part of my trip tax-deductible?
The amount charged over and above the cost of your trip is tax-deductible. The funds generated by the CalArts Travel Program pay for travel stipends and scholarships for our students and is therefore considered a gift. The donation amount will vary for each trip and an estimate will be listed in the travel brochure. Upon return from your trip, you will receive a gift receipt in the mail.
Is travel insurance necessary?
Trip Cancellation/Emergency Medical Evacuation/Baggage/Accident and Sickness Insurance is strongly recommended. Cancellation penalties are enforced. Insurance is an optional service. Each traveler must pay for their policy directly to the travel protection provider.
The cancellation policy timeline will vary slightly for each trip. Please review the policy in the Terms and Conditions section of your travel brochure.
