Endowed gifts provide CalArts with a permanent and growing source of support for our students, faculty or programs. Endowment funds are carefully invested with the primary goal of generating annual income from interest earned. A portion of the interest from each endowed fund is used to support the area designed by the donor, and the remainder of the interest is reinvested; in this way, the principal of the endowment grows over time, providing Calarts with an ever-increasing resource.
Endowed support for student scholarships and faculty chair positions has enormous impact on CalArts' ability to recruit and retain top students and teachers. Talented faculty who are leaders in their fields attract top students, and their mutual interests, passions and the reciprocity of their relationships result in an unparalled learning environment at CalArts.
