The mission of the Financial Aid Office at CalArts is to help students in meeting their costs of attendance at the Institute. CalArts is committed to offering a variety of financial assistance to its students, including grants, scholarships, student loans, and work-study.
Financial aid is awarded beginning April 1. Your Financial Aid Offer letter will be available online through Student Academic Services. You must "accept" (or decline) each financial aid award, read and sign the Offer letter and submit it to the CalArts Financial Aid Office before we can process your financial aid.
NOTE: California residents must complete the FAFSA before March 2 to be considered for a Cal Grant.
Students must reapply for financial aid each year.
Satisfactory Artistic/Academic Progress: Students must maintain satisfactory artistic/academic progress in order to be eligible for financial aid. Review this policy as well as the Academic Warning, Probation, Dismissal and Appeal policy in the “Course Catalog and Academic Policies” publication.
Grants and scholarships do not need to be repaid. Some examples include:
Loans and work-study. Loans must be repaid according to the terms of the Master Promissory Note/loan agreement.
