Use

The campus projection Bijou Theater seats 120 and is managed by the Library.  All schools and departments may schedule the
Bijou for classes that require multi-media projection, for visiting artists and other presentations, especially for groups larger than 50.  As the primary film and multi-media projection classroom for the School of Film/Video, priority is given to their classes.  Students, staff and alumni may request to schedule the Bijou for screenings.  

All personal materials projected in the Bijou are shown at the owners’ discretion.  Damage to any of the materials, however unlikely, cannot be compensated.

Scheduling

Contact the Film Services Manager to schedule and confirm all Bijou bookings.

Semester Classes
Request in July for Fall Semester, and request in December for Spring Semester.

One Class, Presentation or Screening
Faculty, staff, students or alumni may request to schedule the Bijou at least 2 weeks in advance.  Confirmation depends on availability, a projectionist, and approval. 

All non-class uses are approved on a case by case basis, and require advance payment. Please send or give to the Film Services Manager a completed Bijou Theater Reservation form [1].

Individuals who schedule screenings that are not in-class face to face teaching take full responsibility for acquiring the appropriate permissions from the copyright holder.  Admission fees or donations cannot be charged.  For more information, please see Bijou Theater After Hours Use [2].

Fees

The Bijou operates on use fees.  Monies collected help support projectionists’ pay, equipment and facilities maintenance and upgrades.  CalArts’ schools and departments are recharged at the end of the semester for the total number of scheduled class
days with the exception of Institution closure.  If a class is canceled without notifying the Film Services Manager at least one week in advance, then that scheduled use is billed in the recharges at the end of the semester.

For Bijou uses in which equipment, projectionist or supervision are not needed, use fees are not charged.  All non-class uses scheduled by students and alumni must be paid in advance of the scheduled date.
