Perkins Loans

Perkins Loans

Perkins Student Loan Program is a federally funded college administered loan program. Perkins Student Loan funds are awarded to eligible undergraduate and graduate students who are U.S. citizens, eligible non-citizens, or permanent residents. Your award is based on financial need and is awarded first to those students who have met the CalArts priority deadline. You may use these loan funds for any educational cost. The amount of your award will vary depending on your year level and your calculated need. You may not exceed a cumulative total of $20,000 for your undergraduate study. If you are a graduate student, you may not exceed a cumulative total of $40,000 including undergraduate indebtedness. You can establish eligibility for this loan by completing the FAFSA and establishing need. If you are awarded these funds you must also complete a loan application made available to you with your Offer of Financial Aid and sign a promissory note.

Loan Counseling

Students who borrow under the Federal Family Education Loan Program are required to complete entrance counseling before receiving loan proceeds from their first loan and exit counseling shortly before graduating or otherwise leaving school.
