Congratulations! CalArtians Receive Guggenheim Fellowship Awards
Visiting faculty member Dawn Clements.
The New York City-based John Simon Guggenheim Foundation has announced the recipients of the 2012 Guggenheim Fellowship Awards. Often characterized as "midcareer" awards, Guggenheim Fellowships are intended for men and women who have already demonstrated exceptional capacity for productive scholarship or exceptional creative ability in the arts. This year, the foundation recognized two visiting faculty members Eric Dyer, in the School of Film/Video’s Experimental Animation program and the School of Art’s Dawn Clements. School of Art alumnus Nayland Blake (MFA 84) was also awarded a fellowship. Appointed on the basis of prior achievement and exceptional promise, the successful candidates were chosen from a group of almost 3,000 applicants. The 2012 CalArtian awardees are among 181 scholars, artists, and scientists receiving fellowships this year.
