Critical Studies faculty member, Steve Erickson, honored by The American Society of Magazine Editors

The American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) announced, on March 10, its list of finalists for the 2010 National Magazine Awards. School of Critical Studies faculty member Steve Erickson is among the finalists.  An acclaimed novelist, critic and editor of the CalArts literary journal Black Clock, Erickson is honored three times for his cultural criticism column in Los Angeles magazine. One piece, “No Ordinary Fad,” looks to make sense of the Beatles, whose music was digitally re-mastered and recently put in a video game; the second, “War Games,” reviews *Kathryn Bigelow’s The Hurt Locker, now a multiple Oscar winner, and the British political satire In the Loop, directed by Armando Iannucci. The third, “The Final Frontier,” is a glowing final season assessment of the Battlestar Galactica reboot.

*Kathryn Bigelow is a former visiting faculty member in the School of Art
