IMAGE COLLECTIONS

Moving Image Collection
Located in the Library Visual Arts Center, Film Services, this collection supports the curriculum of all six schools and programs, and is unique for the significant number of experimental and independent films, animation, artists’ films and videos, and performance works. More than 30 years of CalArts’ faculty and student works in all disciplines are included. Faculty, students & staff may contact the librarian for their school or program to request items for purchase.

Digital Image Collection
The CalArts Library Visual Resource Collection available through ARTstor is used for teaching, study & research & supports the curriculum of all six schools. Library Image Services creates these digital images for faculty & students as requested.

Slide Collection
The slide collection located in the Library Visual Arts Center, Image Services contains approximately 138,000 slides and supports the curriculum of all six schools. The collection focuses on contemporary art & performance practice, but does contain images of art and culture from prehistory forward in time.
