Copyright and Publication Policy

1. Examining or acquiring copies of materials from the CalArts Institute Archive does not convey the right to publish, exhibit, or otherwise reproduce the materials in full or in part. Securing permissions is the responsibility of the user. The institute archivist can assist users in identifying a copyright owner.

The CalArts Institute Archive, through the Office of
Advancement/ Public Affairs, grants permission for the publication of
text or images for which CalArts is the copyright owner.

For images whose copyright is held elsewhere, please give the following form, Duplication Permission for Items for Publication, to the copyright holder of the item(s) needed. The signed form must be returned to the institute archivist before duplications can be made.

 2.  Any materials from the CalArts Institute Archive used in a publication or exhibition must have the following credit:

Courtesy of the California Institute of the Arts Institute Archive

3.  The publishing party will supply the CalArts Institute Archive two
copies of the publication in which an image, photograph or substantial information from the Institute Archive is cited.
