Mission Statement
Library's Mission
The mission of the Division of Library and Information Resources is to carry out the purposes of the Institute by providing to the practicing artist intellectual and artistic resources and services of the highest quality. That mission is fulfilled by providing a professional faculty, trained in librarianship, whose goals are:
- the continual development of a collection of sufficient depth and breadth to meet the intellectual needs of a community of artists;
- the support of the Institute's curriculum with the print and non-print resources it requires;
- the instruction of student artists in the principles of using those resources and critical thinking skills which are the tools for a lifetime of intellectual growth;
- the provision of prompt and efficient means of acquiring, accessing, and borrowing those resources;
- the provision of physical facilities and conditions conducive to study and learning with an informal environment;
- the continual development of ancillary and supplementary resources through participation in and encouragement of interlibrary cooperative projects;
- and the continual personal growth provided by active participation in appropriate professional organizations, technical training, workshops, etc.
