David “DK” Kroth completed his bachelor's degree at the University of New Mexico in 1982 and received his MFA degree from CalArts in Lighting Design in 1987. From 1980 to 1985, he was stage crew chief (three years) and assistant technical director (two years) at Popejoy Hall in Albuquerque. Joining the Dance School faculty in 1989, Kroth teaches lighting design for the School of Dance. He has since designed lighting for numerous modern dance companies as well as working for the Los Angeles based Dance Kaleidoscope Festival.
