The Community Arts Partnership (CAP) has been chosen as a community partner for the City of Santa Monica's GLOW event on Saturday, September 28th.
Three collaborative site-specific projects are being created for GLOW by CalArts faculty, alumni and students and CAP youth participants.
Lead artist Karen Atkinson will create a sculptural 40-foot long glow-in-the-dark projection screen for specially created content and audience interaction.
THE CALARTS INTERDISCIPLINARY IMPROVISATION TROUPE will perform under the direction of Susan Allen.
Students from the CAP SUMMER ARTS PROGRAM IN DANCE will perform BEAM, choreographed by Marvin Tunney, in collaboration with GLOWbal.
THE CALARTS JAVANESE GAMELAN will perform at 8:30 pm and midnight under the direction of Djoko Walujo.
All CalArts CAP projects will take place on the beach north of the Santa Monica Pier, just north of the parking lot.
GLOW attracts up to 200,000 visitors to view commissioned site-specific art works from international contemporary artists.
