Props Artisan - Temporary
School of Theater

 

Responsibilites:

• Supervise daily props students in props procurement and fabrication and shop activity.

• Participate in building props as appropriate and necessary.

• Work in collaboration with the Technical Director and scene shop staff in production/shop protocols and procedures, as well as in shop and equipment maintenance.

Requirements:

• Experience in props production at a LORT theater level or equivalent and/or experience in props production for television or film.  Academic experience is a plus.

• Technical skills including upholstery, sewing, crafts, set dressing and carpentry.  Knowledge of welding processes and metalwork.  Sculpting, casting and advanced carpentry is helpful.

• Working knowledge of PC or Mac systems including Excel and Word.  PhotoShop, Auto CAD or Vector Works experience is a plus.

• Management skills including managing student shop activity, and scheduling and budgeting of projects.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Ability to work with all types of people and in a high energy environment.
