HOUSING ASSISTANT – BUILDING MAINTENANCE

HOUSING OFFICE

Overview:

  • Provide excellent customer service in executing, responding and follow up on Building Maintenance issues. Oversee other aspects of housing as it relates to the residents, the Housing Office and the Institute.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and distribute work orders including custodial issues 
  • Disseminate and process work orders and custodial issues
  • Assist with coordinating and following up on outside vendor work
  • Maintain accounting on specific budget line items, producing and analyzing reports
  • Assist and monitor the operation of Mom’s Café in conjunction with the Asst. Director which includes hiring, scheduling and verifying timesheets of students. Coordinate maintenance with the custodial crew. Provide necessary reports
  • Coordinate reservations for the Guest Apartment in addition to processing memo’s, billing and assisting guests.  Work in conjunction with the Asst. Director as directed with other aspects of the Guest Apartment including inventory.
  • Distribute mail throughout the institute and resident halls
  • Schedule and process van runs
  • Work closely with a minimum of 12 Resident Assistants by providing reports, tracking information, supplying them with goods and services as needed
  • Work with Director and Assistant Director with capital projects
  • General office duties such as typing correspondence, creating reports, filing, phones, proofreading documents and pick-up mail from service center and other departments throughout CalArts
  • Act as Housing Office representative on Staff Council and/or at other committees in conjunction with another member of the Housing Office
  • Assist with summer programs and projects
  • Review, document and follow-up with the Resident Assistant log book
  • Any additional duties not listed, as required

  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Computer skills with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of computer programs Publisher, Access, and Act
  • Accurate typing (minimum 40 wpm)
  • Will have to work occasional overtime, weekend days and/or holiday’s
