Self Help Graphics

  • Date and Time: Tuesday, June 10, 4:00pm – 7:00pm
  • Description: This exhibition features the paintings, prints, and digital media created by high school students in CAP’s after-school Digital Media Program at Self Help Graphics in Boyle Heights. Come out and support our CAP youth participants and enjoy great art and great food at this newly renovated premiere visual arts organization in East Los Angeles.

SPMAP Culmination Event

  • Date and Time: Saturday, June 14, 2:00pm – 5:00pm
  • Description: Please join CAP at the 13th annual screening event of CAP’s Sony Pictures Media Arts Program. The screening features animated films produced by CAP middle and high school students taking twice-weekly classes in media arts and animation after-school and on Saturdays at Banning’s Landing Community Center in Wilmington, Center for the Arts Eagle Rock in Northeast Los Angeles, San Fernando Gardens Community Services Center in Pacoima, Watts Towers Arts Center in Watts, and the William Reagh Los Angeles Photography Center near MacArthur Park. This public-private partnership is between the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and the CalArts Community Arts Partnership (CAP).

Ramon Cortines All-Day Art Festival

  • Date and Time: Saturday, July 12, 10:00am – 5:00pm
  • Description: An all-day festival of the arts takes place at Ramon Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts in downtown Los Angeles to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the CAP Summer Arts Program and the arts produced by 250 high school students in this three-week intensive summer arts program. The students will be performing music, dance, and theater, screening animated films, reading prose and poetry, and exhibiting their paintings, drawings, sculptures, and photographs all day. Taught by CalArts faculty members, the CAP Summer Arts Program offers a pre-college, professional studio experience for teenagers from all over Los Angeles County and for CAP’s exchange students from Rio de Janeiro.
