New Students: How to Apply for Housing

Welcome to the start of your CalArts experience. As you explore your housing options, consider on-campus housing, which provides greater exposure to the CalArts community and the Santa Clarita Valley.  On-campus housing places you in a position to maximize your experience at CalArts. Knowing your community can create a positive living situation. We accommodate just over a third of the campus population through either Chouinard or Ahmanson Hall. If you are interested in on campus accommodations, please submit your housing application.

Applications received by the deadline will be prioritized and submitted in the lottery. Submitting an application and deposit does not guarantee a student a space on campus. Any new student application received after the deadline will be placed on the waiting list. Postdated materials that are received after the deadline will be considered late applicants and therefore placed on the waiting list.

The new student deadline to submit a completed application and deposit is Monday, May, 14, 2012.

New students will be notified via email regarding lottery results starting Wednesday, May 16, 2012, through Friday, May 18, 2012.

2012/2013 Housing Application: New Students

1.  Download, print and fill out ALL of the following forms:
   • Housing Application
   • Housing License Agreement (The housing license agreement is for the entire academic year.)
   • Acknowledgement of License Agreement and Cancellation Terms
   • Roommate Information Form
   • Emergency Contact Form
2. Return ALL FIVE of the completed forms with the required $350 security deposit directly to the Housing Office via mail, fax or email.

Faxed and emailed applications will be not processed until the $350 deposit is received.

3. Download and print out the 2012/2013 Housing Brochure for additional information about living on campus and residential life.
4. View the Café’s Meal Plan options.  All BFA 1 and BFA 2 on-campus residents are required to purchase a Meal Plan.
