This is a festival of the students, by the students and for the students, cultivating the growth of a collaborative, fun and creative atmosphere within the CalArts community, and allowing students the freedom to play and experiment with new work where the process is valued above the end result.

The Festival encourages interdisciplinary collaboration, explorative processes, and immersive risk-taking.

Austin's Guinness World Record

Laurence Blake's 30th Anniversary Celebration

CalArts celebrates Laurence Blake's 30th Anniversary of teaching excellence on Saturday, May 4. The program features new choreography by:

  • Arianne MacBean (MFA 99)
  • Laura Gorenstein Miller (BFA 92)
  • Travis Reinfried (BFA 06)
  • Stephanie Zaletel (BFA 12)
    and
  • Cherise Richards (MFA 11). 

Proceeds from the event will be directed in honor of Laurence Blake to support student scholarships in The Sharon Disney Lund School of Dance at CalArts.

World Percussion Ensemble, as part of the World Music & Dance Festival 2013

MUSIC: The CalArts World Percussion Ensemble is an ongoing experimental forum for bringing together the percussion, drumming and world music at CalArts, bridging cultures and musical ideas and creating new works for percussion, both highly fixed compositions and extended improvisations. Founded by John Bergamo and led by Randy Gloss and Houman Pourmehdi, the ensemble will feature performances by CalArts faculty, students, and alumni.
