'Rabbit in the Blue'
THEATER: The CalArts School of Theater invites you to attend the upcoming performances of Rabbit in the Blue, directed by Alexis Macnab (MFA Directing 2013) and written by Amanda Jane Shank (MFA Writing for Performance 2013). This vivid and intimate tale explores the mysterious reappearance of Daniel, a young man assumed lost by his family, in the lonesome fields surrounding his childhood home. While his parents and sister grapple with his sudden return, Daniel is haunted by his first love and the vanishing distinction between what is real and what is imagined.
In an effort to showcase the work of CalArts students to the greater Los Angeles community, this group of vibrant young artists is moving their new play downtown. Rabbit in the Blue will be presented downtown at the Broadway Civic Center (207 S. Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90012).

Queer Sex Works: Money Power Sex @ REDCAT

REDCAT: With a wide range of piercingly personal perspectives, this screening of experimental films made by queer artists explores a markedly different outlook about sex work. Be they strippers, hustlers, rent boys, go-go dancers, escorts, whores, pro-dommes, pornographers or rough trade, they do it for the money. Yet, unlike their straight counterparts, they are ”outsiders” in relation to the status quo. Sex work is a job with class, gender, race and power inequalities like any other, but with added social stigma, legal and, potentially, even physical danger. The program includes a reconstruction of the legendary A Fire in My Belly, A Work in Progress (1986–87) by David Wojnarowicz and The Fall of Communism as Seen in Gay Pornography (1998) by William E. Jones, among others. Read more
