CalArts Alumnus Alex Hirsch's Childhood Memories Inspire New Disney Show 'Gravity Falls'

Alex Hirsch and his twin sister, Ariel, left their home in Piedmont every summer, from ages 7-12, to spend time with their great aunt Lois in the small city of Bodega Bay. She had one rule: they had to keep a scrapbook and journal about their time away from home.
It seemed like a bothersome way to spend a summer at the time, but Hirsch, 26, is glad he taped all those rocks and twigs into the journals, which now provide inspiration for his new Disney Channel animated series Gravity Falls. Read story
