Board Committees

Arts Advocacy works on issues that specifically affect the daily artistic lives of CalArts alumni.

By-Laws Ad Hoc is chaired by the Secretary and reviews the existing by-laws and recommends revisions to the Board of Directors.

Chouinard Ad Hoc works on building a bridge between Chouinard and CalArts alumni.

Communications & Marketing provides input for Alumni Association related publications and other marketing pieces for alumni.

Events helps to plan reunions, Homecoming, Cinco de Mayo event for graduating students, the welcoming event for entering students, and other Association sponsored events.

Executive Committee is made up of the Association officers: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Executive Director (Director of Alumni Relations), and a few other appointed Board members. This committee sets the meeting schedule, makes committee assignments, and can act on behalf of the Association on urgent matters between Board meetings.

Honors & Awards reviews candidates for honorary membership in the Alumni Association and for Association sponsored honors and awards.

Benefits identifies and reviews potential member benefits such as health insurance, etc.

Nominating solicits and reviews nominations for The Alumni Council, and the Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Programs supports various programs available to Alumni, including, but not limited to, the career mentoring program, professional networking programs, alumni showcases, and continuing education/workshops. Works with the Alumni Showcases Subcommittees: VIEW Advisory Committee (film screening series), GALLERY Advisory Committee (visual arts showcase), STAGE Advisory Committee (performing arts showcase).

Special Projects handles special projects that do not fall within the purview of the standing committees.

Student Relations, which consists of both alumni and student members, maintains an active dialogue between current and future alumni.

Ways and Means develops revenue generating programs and projects to support the work of the Alumni Association.
