CENTER FOR INTEGRATED MEDIA

All MFA programs at CalArts offer students the opportunity to participate in the Center for Integrated Media (CIM).

The Center is a supplemental concentration of classes and workshops for students who wish to combine work in their primary areas of study, or metiers, with explorations in interdisciplinary, digital media and interactivity.

Applications to the Center are processed through the student's metier.  The entire CIM core faculty reviews the applications and portfolios of each applicant during the admission process.  Each student is also required to provide an Artist Statement that explains the basis of their work, details their experience working with new forms of media and expresses their interest in the Center for Integrated Media at CalArts.

Portfolio requirements must include:

  1. examples of work in electronic and/or digital media
  2. examples of work that show an interest towards interdisciplinary methodologies
  3. an artist statement that exhibits an understanding of current issues in the field of media, technology and the arts
